Many “Firsts” at Chisholm Challenge 2014

On January 13-15th, ManeGait’s Show Team of 11 riders and 9 horses traveled to Fort Worth for the annual Chisholm Challenge Horse Show. This horse show is for children and adults with disabilities to showcase their equestrian skills in friendly competition and opens the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo at the John Justin Arena. The ManeGait Show Team competed in 6 different events with every rider participating in at least 2 events each. Everyone had great success during each of their competitions.  We celebrated many “firsts” at the show. For many of our riders, this was their first horse show! Three of our riders moved up to the A Division, ManeGait had their first drill team perform to “Woody’s Roundup” from Toy Story, and we had a rider compete in the barrel racing competition. Way to get out there, try new things, and move beyond boundaries, riders!

All of our riders had fun, which is the most important thing, and many of them earned blue ribbons by placing first in their classes! Congratulations to all of our Show Team riders for working hard, focusing at the many practices, and staying calm and collected during the competition. We are so proud of you! Thank you to our team of volunteers who always put in the long hours to make horse shows possible for us, and even lend us trailers so we can make it to competitions!

The Fort Worth Star Telegram was there to capture the event. Read their coverage here.

There are 4 additional horse shows that our Show Team will be participating in for 2014.  We hope you will consider attending one of these events to cheer on our riders to continued success this year.
